Bucket List

Title
Author
Commentary
1
Chain Reaction
Simone Elkeles
This book follows the Perfect Chemistry novels and is actually the last in the series. Having  read the first two in the series, Im very anxious to finally read the last one. This book focuses on Luis, a cousin of the Fuentes brothers. Luis has never been around the gang atmosphere quit like his cousins.
2
50 Shades of Grey
E.L. James
The reason for my pick on this book, is not because of the sex crazed media of it all. The absurdity of it all draws my attention. Ana being a shy, college student. And Christian Grey, a young entrepreneur, the two of them hit it off with trappings of success.
3
Delirium
Lauren Oliver
This book follows a young lady who is trapped between having love to herself, but is willing to risk it all, knowing it could hurt her in the end. Morgan Huff actually told me about this book. I don’t necessarily like love stories, but a twisted love story is my cup of tea!
4
Speak
Lauren Halse Anderson
Speak is about teenagers learning to stand up for themselves and actually make peers around them aware of harmful situations. This book was a finalist for the National Book Award.  Books about teens relate to me, simply because they tell it like it is instead of sugar coating it, unless your Sara Dessen.
5
Will Greyson, Will Greyson
After watching a short clip of one of the two authors describing his book, I can see he is a pretty funny guy. I’m hoping his hilarity will also make an appearance in his writing. The book is about two boys, both named Will Greyson. They start crossing paths and eventually start intertwining them as well.
6
My Sisters keeper
Jodi Picolt
This book is about a family who all seems to go under the knife. And finds it to be a constant struggle to keep the sister alive. The Author, Jodi is a New York Times Best Seller Author. I have also been recommended this book by many people, and hope to see the movie after reading it.
7
Forever
Judy Blume
The main reason I have decided to put this on my bucket list is, as a kid we all read Judy Blume. I will be interested to read her work for more mature audiences. The book follows a new flame of love. Which yes, you did find this on my Bucket list..despite my snarl for them.
8
Beautiful Creatures
Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl
This book follows a family loomed curse hidden behind a small town mentality. I think this book will be pretty twisted, which is what I like in a book. One that keeps me entertained throughout the whole book, constant twists and turns that never let you expect the ending catch.
9
Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children
Ransom Riggs
Jocie actually recommended this book to me, and we both watched the trailor. Its about a little boy that visits the island of the peculiar children and finds, that just maybe there all but dead. I like scary movies so I also like scary books, but what I really like is that it has pictures…I know that defeats the purpose in reading, but I like being able to see what there trying to visualize
10
13 Reasons Why

This book tells 13 reasons why a highschool  girl kills herself, hence the title. I find this book to be right up my alley since suicide has become a very upfront and personal situation around the Batesville area lately. Also since im in highschool as well, I think it would be fairly easily to relate to. many of my friends have read this book and have recommended it. Anxious!

Forgiveness

"Of course it is too soon to die i thought, but did the Nazis ask wether our children, whom they were about to gas had ever had anything out of life" (weisenthal, 31). Weisenthal's pathos tugs at the senses when he connects to the audience. Talking about the children capitilizes the brutality. What do small children dying at that age get out of life? The memories with parents and friends that makes a childhood special. the love shared throughout the engagement of friendship. Dying at such a young age puts all of that to a hault.
I think that Weisenthal's point portrays his confusion as to why Karl deserves forgiveness and to be felt sorry for, for dying young when Simons community was dropping at even younger ages.

Forgiveness

90 Minutes till the ship is completely sunk; 90 minutes to figure out an escape; information that slipped to be crucial. In my final moments I realized how pissed I am at Captain Smith, but can I blame him for hitting the iceberg? The only light shining at this point is the moon, and the trace it leaves in the children's tears as I watch them get separated from their families, people screaming all around leaves me more anxious to find some sort of survival plan, but in the still clear part of my mind, as everything is crashing around me I realize Im at ease with Captain Smith. No one is to blame...

Healing forgivness

Why don't people forgive? Living in the Bible Belt, many would think forgiveness would come as second nature, but when they hear of "a con artist (swindling) elderly people out of their life savings," the instant response is a negative, derogatory statement. As humans we will all make  mistakes, some more afflicting than others, so, as Christians, we must all remember that before concluding a judgement on one's behavior.

Thanks for the Name.

In John Steinbeck’s historical fiction novel, Of Mice and Men, we meet Curley’s wife; someone to look at. “Wait till you see Curley’s wife.” Some people may think. A person with bestowed power, but is that power alone enough? Though, she comes off as nothing more than a whore, she is longing to fulfill her dream of becoming someone bigger than she is.
Curley’s wife feels stuck where she is-unhappy, and although her life is simple, she has no worries. She would like to move onto bigger-and-better things. She met a man from Hollywood who was going to write her but she “Never got that letter”. She would like to go to Hollywood and “[be] in the movies and [have] nice clothes.” Dressing up, doing her makeup, and accentuating her body is her way of getting the attention she would, if she were to be famous. She seeks men for this attention because she knows from them, she will most likely get it.
To others Curley’s wife is exactly that. Curley’s  wife. She doesn’t show a lot of moral value, so therefore she’s not such a value to anyone.  Sure she’s on a pedestool for being Curley’s wife, but referring back to the movie, was there a lot of emotion coming from Curley when she died? Not quite. To him, she was a dime piece to today’s society.
“Do you know what I could to you?” She knows the power she has, and she uses it to her ability. She attacks the people she knows she can belittle; they are incapable of sticking up for themselves for they know that if it came down to their word or hers, she would win undoubtedly. “Yeah, I just tend the horses” crooks being an easy target, because he’s black.  Lennie is also in the line of fire, mainly because most people know he’s slow.
Conclusively, her dream is evident throughout the story. She is unhappy with her life as is. She needs more going for her.

Maybe she just wants a name  :p
